The ASHB was formed in 1987 to help stimulate activities in the region of Australisia. Australasia is broadly defined as encompassing Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and neighbouring Indian and Pacific Ocean countries. In fact the Society has active members from all around the globe.

Information
The ASHB website is hosted by the School of Anatomy & Human Biology at The University of Western Australia.
It originated on 6th March 1998. Its inaugural webmaster and developer was Murray Head, then at the Department of Anatomy & Human Biology, now teaching at Port Augusta, South Australia.
It was updated and modified to its present form in March 2002 by Amy Holdsworth and Neville Bruce, School of Anatomy & Human Biology.
The current web 'master' is Algis Kuliukas
